Oh, and if you are tempted by Ableton Intro, rather than spending $100 on the software alone, I would buy a Launchpad Mini or something like that and get software and hardware for about the same price. I would echo another's comment though, that if you are using garageband and are looking at an upgrade, Logic X is just unbelievable value for money, and is worth about 10 times Ableton Intro for only twice the price. If it's purely for recording then Ableton isn't the best, but if you want to get into live work, clip based composing etc then Ableton has something to offer. In terms of instruments and effects, I think garageband wins, but it does depend on what you want to use it for. It's definitely not an upgrade in all respects.
It often comes free with hardware (although that might be live lite) which is fine but I'd be hard pressed to recommend it as a standalone purchase due to those limitations and the lack of instruments/effects/content.Ĭomparing it to garageband is tricky. Ableton intro is quite limited in terms of content and track count.
